WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN "ROAD-LEGAL" AND "SHOW" PLATES?
In order to conform to the DVLA's regulationS in the UK, all number plates must display the supplier details ("The Plate Lab OL8 1UB") and conform to certain British Standards and therefore show the "BS AU 145e" mark. Number plates must also equip the correct spacing - shown on the V5C Registration document. Only number plates that suit all of these requirements may be used on the road - we sell these as "road-legal plates".

Show Plates are not suitable for road use as they don't meet all DVLA requirements. Our show plates do not display the supplier details or the BS mark. Whether they have legal or illegal character spacing depends on your choice. We are aware that some customers purchase show plates and use them on roads. This is illegal, can attract police attention and result in fines/penalties. We are not liable for any consequences that arise due to the use of show plates on UK roads.

Tinted Plates are a form of Show plates, except they are slightly smoked/darker in colour. Due to the show plate nature as well as the darker appearance, these should not be purchased for road-use but photography/display only.

ARE YOU A REGISTERED SUPPLIER?
Yes! The Plate Lab is on the DVLA's Register of Number Plate Suppliers (RNPS) which means you can trust us to produce your number plates. Our Supplier ID is 62430.
WHY DO I NEED TO SHOW YOU ID & ENTITLEMENT DOCUMENTS?
As we are a registered number plate supplier, we are required by the law to verify your name & address, along with ownership of the registration that you are requesting on your plate. We will verify the authenticity so please only submit photographs of the original documents. We will then securely dispose of the photographs and securely store the reference numbers from your documents for up to 3 years and show these to trading standards officers or the police, if they ask.

If you are purchasing as a gift for someone else, we will only require your ID document (the buyer's). The proof of entitlement to the registration number does not have to match your name but we will still need to see it.

WHAT ARE YOUR SHIPPING OPTIONS?
we work hard to ensure your order arrives as soon as possible, and equally want to make your shopping experience as easy and pleasant as we can. So as a standard we offer a free, secure delivery in 3-6 working days via Evri (hermes).
Working days are mon-sat, with cut off times at 2pm each day.

If you'd like your order sooner, then you can upgrade to our express 2-4 day delivery option via hermes for only £3.50 more! Orders must be placed before 11am mon-sat to count for that day, else they are dispatched the next day.
e.g. order placed at 10am on friday will arrive on sat/mon as sunday is not a working day.

DURING BUSY PERIODS or unforeseen circumstances, If THERE ARE DELAYS IN OUR DISPATCH TIMES, WE WILL MAKE YOU AWARE AS SOON AS WE CAN AND we WILL OFFER TO CANCEL AND REFUND YOUR ORDER IF THIS DOES NOT SUIT YOUR NEEDS.
WHAT IS YOUR RETURNS POLICY?
We're certain you'll love our products but in the rare circumstances that there are any issues, please feel free to send us a message and we will be happy to help :)

Incorrect, Missing or Damaged Orders:
We try our best to provide you with the best service, and so we individually check every order thouroughly before dispatch.
In the rare event that your order arrives with incorrect or damaged items, please contact us immediately. We will investigate and kindly request you to send us evidence so we can arrange a quick refund or replacement.
In these instances, we will arrange return postage.
You must contact us within 30 days of your order date.

Unwanted Products:
If you have changed your mind and no longer want to go ahead with your order, there is a £20-25 cancellation fee for personalised products. All other products can be cancelled at no extra charge.
This is because we begin processing your order immediately after you place it, and due to the personalised nature of our products, we cannot just re-use the same items for another order. We will have to remove the personalisation and discard of the item.
If the order has been shipped already, you will also be required to cover the cost of return postage.
Items must be returned unused and undamaged, in the condition that it was sent out.
This must be within 14 days of your order date.
